DESCRIPTION
The pendant is made of "German Silver" which is an alloy of nickel, zinc, and copper. (No matter the use, I view it as a pendant and a good luck talisman) The chain is a stainless steel rolo style chain. The inner metal is brass that has been stoned and sealed with a jewelers two part resin. I took several common forms of the hammer and made this modern, yet ancient looking design. One can look at it either way depending on their perspective.
The writting on the reverse says "Mjolnir" which is the name of Thor's Hammer. The symbol above it is the Fehu symbol. Meaning: (F: Domestic cattle, wealth.) Possessions won or earned, earned income, luck. Abundance, financial strength in the present or near future. Sign of hope and plenty, success and happiness. Social success. Energy, foresight, and fertility.
The obverse has the Algiz symbol. Meaning: (Z or -R: Elk, protection.) Protection, a shield. The protective urge to shelter oneself or others. Defense, warding off of evil, shield, guardian. Connection with the gods, awakening, higher life. It can be used to channel energies appropriately. Follow your instincts. Keep hold of success or maintain a position won or earned. Beside the symbol are the Ravens Huggin and Muggin (Thought and Memory). They are the messengers and eyes of Odin, Thor's father. I included them as a tribute to family and ancestors.
The pendant is held together with 26 hand hammered brass rivets. The pendant was created first and foremost to not look machine manufactured and to have eye appeal but not be "pretty". I didn't sand out waves in the metal and hand polished it with a cloth as much as possible. I wanted to create something that the most seasoned Viking would wear. I aimed for a hand made and rugged piece that Thor himself would wear. I think that I have succeeded and hope that you agree as well.
